Day Trip To Tombstone, Bisbee & Douglas

Tombstone, Bisbee and Douglas makes a perfect day trip from Tucson, AZ. These three towns are located southeast of Tucson and are conveniently located one after the other. This makes one of my favorite day trips from Tucson to enjoy a beautiful drive and savor good food along the way.

Tombstone

After having an early morning breakfast, I sat on my journey to these 3 historic towns. My first stop along the way is Tombstone which is approximately an hour and 20 minutes from Tucson. This old town is beautifully preserved and takes you back in time. I went to see cowboy gunfight at the OK Corral outdoor theater. This is a beautiful place to preserve your memories of this town and take pictures. After the show, I walked around the streets and explored the local shops which are very attractive. The town offers many tours such as trolley tours, horse drawn vehicle tours, pony tail rides, walking tours and much more. The town also offers many dining experiences as well.

Bisbee

Second stop of my day trip was Bisbee, which was only 25 minutes from Tombstone. Bisbee is tucked between 2 mountains and my favorite town in Arizona. After parking, I went to grab lunch at “The Table” restaurant. After lunch, I decided to take a self-guided walking tour of the town after grabbing a map from the visitor center. The shops at Bisbee are beautifully decorated and it is hard not to shop around. Bisbee conducts many annual festivals that are a must to visit. Like Tombstone, Bisbee offers alot of tours such as jeep tours, Queen Mine tours, cart tours and many more. After spending a couple of hours at this historic town, I got on the road for my next stop at the Copper Queen Mine. The mine also offers underground tours. After exploring this historic copper mine, I started my journey to my last stop of my day trip.

Douglas

My final stop of the day was Douglas which is one of the border town in southeast Arizona and only 30 minutes from Bisbee. I drove all the way to see the border crossing and drove along the border wall to see the Mexico side of border. This was a unique experience for me. I parked at the shopping mall next to border crossing and crossed to Mexico. I grabbed some street tacos in Mexico and enjoyed being on the other side of the border. I came back into US after the border checking which asked for my ID and Passport. They also asked some basic questions about my occupation and reason of visit to Mexico. I drove around Douglas to see this beautiful town and  stopped at “Chatitas Steakhouse” to end the day with a savory steak dinner.

After enjoying a nice dinner at Douglas, I started my journey back to Tucson. The sun was sitting down on my way back to Tucson and it made my drive a breeze with such scenes of sunset. I highly recommend doing this day trip if you are in Tucson and looking for any activities.
